July 10, 2019: GPAC Meeting #1
On July 10, 2019, the City held its first GPAC meeting. The purpose of this meeting was to introduce the GPAC to the General Plan process and begin initial GPAC feedback regarding issues and opportunities that should be addressed as part of the Update. Some of the initial issues the GPAC felt should be addressed included traffic congestion, housing availability and affordability, access to city amenities and transit, homelessness, sustainability and resiliency, and economic development. Several initial opportunities the GPAC felt the General Plan should capitalize on included Pleasant Hill’s civic minded and engaged community members, opportunities to embrace new innovations in sustainable practices and technology, building upon city amenities (such as parks and open space) as well as the future Pleasant Hill Library, further collaboration with the school district and Diablo Valley College, and continuing coordination with regional agencies and entities.
This is the first in a series of GPAC Meetings where the GPAC will make General Plan recommendations o the Planning Commission and City Council regarding the Vision, Guiding Principles, Alternatives, and Policy Development based on community feedback and input. The next step for the GPAC is to convene in August to review community input from the a pop-up booth at the Summer Concerts by the Lake on August 4, 2019.
